Registering & Creating Your Cloud Site

Over the last couple of years, websites have started to become easier to create and manage. With services like SquareSpace,, and Wix, even the least tech savvy person can create a website with minimal effort.

These services are a great solution if you’re starting out, but what happens when you start gaining a lot of traffic. How will you keep your visitors engaged with your content? How will you know what works and what doesn’t?

Creating Cloud Sites

To get started answering these questions, all you’ll need is a DevSpace account. If you don’t already have one, then follow the steps below. But, if you already have an account, then follow the steps below starting at step two.

Step 1: Creating an Account

To get started, you’ll need an account. Click here to visit our registration page (opens in a new tab). 

Once you have chosen your account username, password, and display name, there will be a check box towards the bottom on the page. It will say “Yes, I’d like to create a new site”, checking the box will reveal an additional form where you can choose to create a site.

If would like to create a site now instead of later feel free, but we’ll be covering how to create a site once you’ve logged in to your account a bit later.

You’ll be asked for three things. Your site’s address, title, and if you would like Google to index it in its search results.

  1. BLOG URL – This is your site’s address (the text that goes in your browser’s address bar). Example:
  2. BLOG TITLE – The title of your site (doesn’t have to be the same as your blog URL).
  3. Privacy Options – Would you like Google and other search engines to show your site in their search results? Yes? No?


Step 2: Email Verification

After your click the orange “complete sign up” button, you will receive an email that contains your username and an activation link. Clicking the activation link will enable your account and allow you to sign in.

Step 3: Creating Your Cloud Site

If you aren’t already logged in please click here. You will then arrive at your “My Sites” page. If you just created your account, then this page should be empty. But don’t worry, you’ll have your very own site soon enough!


Once you arrive at your “My Sites” page, click on “Create a Site” link in the upper left-hand corner of your screen. You will then be redirected to the site creation page. Create your site title and URL and select if you would like your site to be private or not. Then click create.

Step 4: That’s It!

Once you click “Create Site”, you will be redirected to a page that will display your site’s title and URL. And that’s it! Clicking on the link will take you to your site’s dashboard. Have fun and contribute responsibly.
